Old Fashioned Macaroni And Cheese Casserole
- 2 c. uncooked macaroni
- 1 (10 oz.) pkg. sharp or very sharp Cheddar cheese
- 2 slices yellow cheese
- about 3 c. whole milk, warmed
- oleo or butter (plenty)
- bread crumbs
- salt
- white pepper
- Grease a 1 1/2-quart casserole well.
- Cook macaroni in boiling, salted water for about 12 minutes; drain.
- Lay one slice of yellow cheese in bottom of casserole.
- Then layer macaroni, followed by a layer of Cheddar cheese and a few dots of oleo.
- Add a very small amount of white pepper.
- Repeat the layers until 1/4-inch from top.
- Add warm milk to cover mixture.
- Sprinkle top with bread crumbs and a few dots of oleo and place 1 slice of yellow cheese on top.
- Bake in a 350u0b0 oven for at least 1 hour. Watch carefully that it doesn't boil over or cook too fast.
