Bavarian Beef Stew Hm Recipe

  2. In dutch oven on med-high, heat oil and cook beef in batches 3-4 mins till browned on all sides.

  4. Return all beef to pot along with any juices which have accumulated on plate.
  5. Sprinkle with onions and garlic and reduce heat to med-low.
  6. Cook, covered, 5 mins till onions are softened.

  8. Sprinkle flour over meat and cook, stirring over low till well-blended and flour starts to draw away from bottom of pot.
  9. Gradually stir in stock and venegar.
  10. Bring to boil over med-high, stirring constantly.
  11. 4.
  12. Reduce heat to med-low and stir 5 mins.
  13. Stir in sugar and bay leaf.
  14. Simmer, covered, 60-90 mins till beef is tender.
  15. Throw away bay leaf, stir in crumbs and serve.
