Popcorn Balls Recipe
- 3 quart. freshly popped corn
- 1 c. Karo light corn syrup
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Place popcorn in large greased pan.
- Place in 250 degree oven.
- In heavy 2-qt saucepan, stir together corn syrup and sugar.
- Stirring constantly, bring to boil over medium heat.
- Without stirring, cook till temperature reaches 290 degrees on candy thermometer, about 10 min, or possibly till small amount of mix dropped into very cool water separates into threads that are hard but not brittle.
- Remove from heat; stir in vanilla.
- Slowly pour over popcorn, stirring well.
- Cold just sufficient to handle.
- With greased hands, quickly shape into balls.
- Makes 8.
