Southern Cream Cookies
- 1 cup vegetable shortening
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 large eggs well beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup sour cream
- 5 cups flour, all-purpose sifted
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/2 cups walnuts chopped
- 3 tablespoons sugar blended with-
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon ground
- Cream shortening and sugar.
- Add eggs, vanilla and sour cream; mix well.
- Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and soda; add to creamed mixture.
- Add nuts, if desired.
- Drop from teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet.
- Grease bottom of small glass; dip into sugar-cinnamon mixture, and press cookie flat.
- Bake at 350F (180C) F for 15 minutes.
- Makes 6 dozen.
