French Dip Sandwiches
- 5 pounds Roast
- 2 cans (10.5 Oz. Size) Consomme Beef Soup
- 1 cup White Wine
- 1 package (about 1 Oz. Packet) Dry Onion Soup Mix
- 1 Onion, Sliced
- 1 pound Monterey Jack Cheese, Sliced
- 6 whole Small French Loaves, To Serve
- Butter
- Place roast in an oven roaster.
- Add soup, wine, dry soup mix, and sliced onion.
- Roast in a 300 degrees F oven for 2 hours or until roast is tender.
- Remove from oven.
- Slice roast into 1/4 or 1/2-inch slices and return to the roaster.
- Place back into the oven.
- Meanwhile, slice bread lengthwise; butter each side and toast in the broiler.
- While bread is warm, top the bottom slice with sliced cheese and roast.
- Put top slice on and cut sandwich at an angle.
- Spoon roast liquid into a bowl for dipping.
- Also works in a slow cooker.
- Cook 6 to 8 hours.
