Cherry Almond Quick Bread
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. margarine
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. almond extract
- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 c. chopped almonds
- 1 (6 oz.) jar maraschino cherries, chopped
- 3/4 c. orange juice
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/3 c. margarine
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 2 c. flour
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/3 c. salad oil or melted margarine
- 3/4 c. milk
- Mix dough ingredients well and roll out into rectangle about 1/2-inch thick.
- Sprinkle with mixture of 2 tablespoons sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon.
- Roll as for jelly roll, rolling from wide side. Cut into about 12 rolls.
- Place cut side down into orange juice mixture (which has been placed in 13 x 9-inch baking pan).
- Bake at 400u0b0 for about 20 to 25 minutes.
