Auntie'S Icebox Cookies
- 6 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 2 c. butter or margarine, softened
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. packed brown sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp. lemon extract
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 c. chopped nuts
- Sift together first 5 ingredients; set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugars.
- Add eggs, vanilla and lemon extract; beat well.
- Add dry ingredients and mix well.
- Stir in nuts.
- Divide dough into 4 parts and shape into 1 1/2 x 11-inch rolls.
- Wrap in foil and chill overnight.
- Slice cookies 3/8-inch thick.
- Bake on greased sheets at 350u0b0 for about 10 minutes. Yields about 17 dozen cookies.
