Nitey-Nites
- 12 oz. chocolate chips
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. egg whites (5 eggs)
- 2 c. walnuts, chopped
- 2/3 c. soft butter or margarine
- 1 3/4 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 1/2 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted
- 2 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1 1/4 c. ice water
- Cream together butter or margarine, sugar, eggs and vanilla until fluffy.
- Beat 5 minutes.
- Blend in cooled chocolate.
- Sift together flour and soda.
- Add to creamed mixture alternately with ice water, beating well after each addition.
- Bake in 2 well-greased and floured 8-inch round pans in a 350u0b0 oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
- (This can also be baked in a 9 x 12-inch pan for 35 to 40 minutes.)
