Apple Pie Filling (Freezer ) Recipe
- 18 lrg Macintosh apples, peeled, Sliced 1/2 inch thick
- 6 Tbsp. Butter
- 3 c. Sugar
- 3 3/4 tsp Nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp Ginger
- 1/8 tsp Nutmeg
- 1 ct apples
- 2 Tbsp. Flour
- 2 Tbsp. Butter
- 1 x Unbaked 9 inch pie shell
- Heat butter in heavy pot and add in apples and all other ingredients.
- Partially cook fruit over very low heat for 15 min, stirring now and then with wooden spoon.
- Coool and dvide filling into 3 freezer containers.
- Freeze till needed.
- To make one pie: Remove filling from one container and defrost.
- Spoon pie filling into pie shell.
- Sprinkle with flour and dot with butter.
- Cover with remaining pie dough and crimp edges togehter.
- Slash top in several places to allow steam to escape, Bake in a 450 oven for 15 min.
- Lower heat and bake 30 min longer or possibly till crust is nicely browned.
