1926 White Fruit Cake 1976(From Hettie Prevatt)
- 1 lb. sugar (2 c.)
- 1 lb. flour (4 1/2 c.)
- 1/2 lb. butter
- 1 c. water, fruit juice or wine
- 8 egg whites
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. lemon flavoring
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 lb. white raisins
- 1 lb. nuts
- 1/2 lb. white citron, cut fine
- 1/2 lb. red cherries (crystallized)
- 1/2 lb. pineapple (crystallized)
- 1 c. suet (ground)
- 1 c. raisins
- 1 c. molasses
- 1 c. sour milk
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 2 tsp. allspice
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. soda, dissolved in 1 tsp. water
- Mix the first 4 ingredients.
- Add others in order given.
- Pour into cans and steam 3 hours.
- Keeps well in refrigerator.
