Banana Bran Loaf

  1. Combine first five ingredients in a large bowl.
  2. With pastry blender or two knives, cut in butter or margarine until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal.
  3. Add next 3 ingredients and, if desired, dates and nuts.
  4. Mix just until blended.
  5. Pour into a greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.
  6. Bake in a preheated moderate oven (350u0b0) for 50 to 60 minutes or until done.
  7. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then remove to rack to cool completely.
  8. Makes 1 (9-inch) loaf.
