Fruit And Nut Morning Buns
- 1 (16 oz.) pkg. hot roll mix
- 1 c. oats (quick or old fashioned), uncooked
- 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 3/4 c. dried fruit
- 1/2 c. finely chopped nuts
- 1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
- 2 Tbsp. margarine or butter, softened
- 2 Tbsp. grated orange peel
- 1 egg (room temperature)
- 1 c. very warm water
- 2 Tbsp. margarine or butter, melted
- In large bowl, combine hot roll mix, yeast packet, oats, flour, brown sugar, fruit and nuts.
- Mix well.
- Add cream cheese, 2 tablespoons margarine, orange peel and egg.
- Mix well, until dough pulls away from sides of bowl.
- Turn out onto lightly floured surface and knead 5 minutes.
- Add additional flour if dough is sticky.
- Shape dough into ball.
- Cover with plastic wrap.
- Let rise in warm place for 20 minutes.
