Chalupas
- 1 cup onion, chopped
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 3 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 12 cups tomato soup
- 1 12 cups light cream
- 18 teaspoon salt
- 12 corn tortillas
- 1 12 cups American cheese, grated
- Sautehalf of the onion in butter until soft, add gound beef and cook until brown.
- Add the flour and chili powder, cook for 5 min longer.
- Add 1 C water.
- Cover.
- Simmer until thick.
- Combine soup, cream, remaining onion, and salt.
- Cut tortillas in strips.
- Place layers of tortilla chips, beef mixture, and cheese in a buttered shallow baking dish
- Repeat until casserole is filled, ending with cheese.
- Bake at 325* until browned lightly and bubbly, about 10-15 min.
