Great Pound Cake
- 3 sticks butter
- 1 pkg. cream cheese
- 2 c. sugar
- 3 c. sifted cake flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 3 eggs, unseparated
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla flavoring (lemon?, etc.)
- In large bowl, put softened butter and cream cheese; blend together until creamy.
- Add eggs, one at a time; add sugar to this.
- Sift together flour, salt and baking powder; slowly add these dry ingredients to the bowl.
- Mix together well.
- Add flavoring last.
- Pour batter (very stiff) into 1 greased and floured tube pan or two loaf pans.
- With knife, cut through cake batter in a circle.
- Do not touch bottom of pan.
- Place in center of rack and bake 1/2 hour at 350u0b0.
- Turn oven down to 325u0b0 and bake 1/2 hour more.
- Cool and remove from pan.
- Serve plain or add your favoring topping (optional).
