Cherry Rolls Recipe
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoon baking pwdr
- 1/2 c. lowfat milk
- 2 tbsp. shortening
- 1 can tart red cherries, reserve juice
- Rolls: Sift dry ingredients together, cut in shortening.
- Slowly add in sufficient lowfat milk to make a soft dough.
- Roll 1/4 inch thick.
- Cover with liquid removed cherries, roll into a jelly roll shape, press edges together, cut into 1 1/2 inch slices, place in greased pan.
- Prepare sauce.
- Sauce: Cook sugar, flour, water and cherry juice.
- Bring to boil.
- Stir in butter, cook 1 minute or possibly till it thickens.
- Pour over rolls.
- Bake 30 min in 400 degree oven.
- Serve warm.
- A big family favorite.
