First-Degree BBQ Pork Sandwiches
- 1/4 cup chili powder, divided
- 2 each pork shoulder roasts (about 4 lb.) Safeway Buy 1 Get 3 Free thru 02/09
- 1 qt. KRAFT Original Barbecue Sauce
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 4 cloves garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 24 each sandwich rolls, split
- Sprinkle 3 Tbsp.
- of the chili powder evenly over pork (or 1-1/2 Tbsp.
- of the chili powder for trial recipe).
- Place in full hotel pan (or half hotel pan for trial recipe); cover with foil.
- Bake in 275F-standard oven for 3 hours (or in 250F-convection oven for 1-1/2 hours) or until pork is cooked through (160F).
- Remove pork from pan; cool slightly.
- Meanwhile, combine barbecue sauce, remaining 1 Tbsp.
- chili powder (or remaining 1/2 Tbsp.
- chili powder for trial recipe), the tomato sauce, brown sugar, molasses, garlic, salt and pepper in large saucepan.
- Shred meat.
- Add to ingredients in saucepan; cook over medium-low heat until heated through, stirring occasionally.
- Spoon into rolls just before serving.
