Elephant Ears

  1. Preheat oven to 375.
  2. Grease cookie sheets.
  3. Sprinkle lightly with water.
  4. Roll one sheet of pastry to 12x10 inch rectangle.
  5. Brush with egg; sprinkle with 1 tablespoon sugar.
  6. Tightly roll up 10 inch sides, meeting in the center (like a C) Brush center with egg and seal rills tightly together.
  7. Turn over.
  8. Cut into 3/8 inch thick slices.
  9. Place slices on prepared cookie sheets.
  10. Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon sugar.
  11. Repeat with remaining pastry, egg and sugar.
  12. Bake 16-18 minutes until golden brown.
  13. Melt chocolate in saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly.
  14. Remove from heat.
  15. Spread bottoms of cookies with chocolate.
  16. Let stand until chocolate is set.
