Mom'S Spaghetti Casserole
- 8 oz. spaghetti, broken into 2-inch pieces
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 1 1/2 lb. ground chuck
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 medium green pepper, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 qt. spaghetti sauce
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. oregano
- 1 lb. cottage cheese
- 12 oz. shredded Mozzarella cheese
- Cook spaghetti and drain.
- In large bowl, mix butter, Parmesan, salt, pepper and egg.
- Add spaghetti and toss to coat well.
- Spread evenly in 13 x 9-inch pan.
- Brown ground chuck in large saucepan, adding onion, pepper and garlic just as meat starts to cook.
- When meat is browned, drain off fat.
- Stir in spaghetti sauce, sugar and oregano.
- Spread cottage cheese over spaghetti layer.
- Top with meat mixture.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 30 minutes.
- Sprinkle with Mozzarella cheese.
- Bake 10 minutes.
- Let stand 15 minutes before serving.
- Can be divided into 2 meals and frozen.
