Salmon Gulf Burgers Recipe onhealthfood

  1. Cut the raw salmon into small 1/2-inch cubes.
  2. Put in a food processor and pulse a few times to get into smaller pieces.
  3. Avoid overprocessing because you dont want it to turn into a paste.
  4. Put the salmon in a big bowl and add the egg white, bread crumbs, and some salt and pepper.
  5. Mix together with your hands and form burger patties.
  6. Heat up your grill or stove-top grill pan to medium heat and drizzle the olive oil on top.
  7. Cook patties on a for about 4 minutes on each side until they are golden brown.
  8. As soon as they come off the grill, sprinkle fresh lemon juice (about 1/2 lemon) on top.
  9. Set aside.
  10. Mash up the avocado in a bowl and add the chipotle chili powder, a little salt, and a sprinkle of lemon juice.
  11. Mix well.
  12. To make each burger, spread the chipotle avocado spread on one side of the hamburger bun and top with a handful of arugula, a few slices of red onion, one of the salmon burgers, and the other half of the bun.
  13. Serve with a green vegetable, such as broccoli or asparagus.
  14. Tip 1: If you dont own a food processor, just cut the salmon into smaller pieces.
  15. The egg and breadcrumbs should do their job of holding the burger together.
  16. Also, if you dont have a grill or grill pan, you can certainly cook the burger patties in a deep saute pan.
  17. Tip 2: For the buns, I managed to find sprouted grain buns in the refrigerated section of my health food store.
  18. Do your best with what your local store has to offer, and remember to look for a list of simple ingredients.
  19. Sometimes your best best is the fresh bread in the bakery.
