Mother's Split Pea Soup Recipe

  2. Soak peas overnight in water to cover; drain.

  4. Place peas in Dutch oven with ham bone, potatoes, carrots, onion, bay leaf, 4 qts water and salt and pepper to taste.

  6. Cook over low heat approximately 4 hrs, stirring occasionally.
  7. 4.
  8. Remove ham bone and bay leaf.
  9. Place soup in blender, blend till smooth.
  10. Taste to correct seasonings.
  11. Reheat and serve piping warm.
  12. Makes 10 servings.
