Southern Praline Tart

  1. Make the crust.
  2. In a medium bowl with a hand mixer beat 6 tablespoons butter and cream cheese until smooth.
  3. Gently stir in flour and salt until well mixed.
  4. Press mixture onto bottom and at least 1/4 inch up sides of a lightly greased 9-inch tart pan with removable bottom.
  5. Bake in a 350 degree F oven until crust is light in color and has a dry appearance, about 12-14 minutes.
  6. Place tart pan on foil-lined baking sheet.
  7. For the filling, combine 6 tablespoons butter and brown sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  8. Bring to a boil stirring constantly; boil for 1 minute.
  9. Remove from heat and stir in heavy whipping cream, liqueur and vanilla.
  10. Stir in pecans.
  11. Pour hot filling into baked crust and carefully put baking sheet in oven.
  12. Bake in a 350 degree F oven until filling is bubbly throughout, about 15 minutes.
  13. Cool on a wire rack.
  14. Filling will thicken as it cools.
  15. Remove ring from pan and place tart on serving plate.
  16. Garnish with whipped cream as desired.
