Southern Shrimp And Chicken

  1. Cook bacon.
  2. Discard all but 2 tablespoons drippings.
  3. Brown chicken in batches over high heat, transfer to bowl.
  4. Add flour to pan.
  5. Cook until browned.
  6. Add onions, celery, green pepper and garlic; cook about 5 minutes.
  7. Stir in broth, salt, pepper and thyme.
  8. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
  9. Reduce heat; simmer 5 minutes.
  10. Return chicken to pan; cook 5 minutes more.
  11. Stir in shrimp and cook about 2 minutes.
  12. Sprinkle with bacon.
  13. Makes 6 servings.
