German Apple Torte
- 1 each eggs
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup flour, all-purpose
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup apples peeled, diced
- 1/2 cup walnuts chopped
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Beat egg with an electric mixer until light and lemon colored.
- Gradually beat in sugar until mixture is thick and pale.
- (This beating is very important to prevent sugariness.)
- Mix flour, baking powder, salt, and gently fold into egg mixture.
- Stir in apples, walnuts and vanilla.
- Generously butter an 8 inch square pan, pour in batter.
- Bake in 350F (180C) F oven 35 to 40 minutes or until top is golden brown and crunchy.
- Serve warm.
