Stuffed Cabbage(Golabki)

  1. With sharp knife, remove core from cabbage.
  2. Discard wilted leaves. Immerse cabbage in boiling salted water for 5 to 7 minutes, removing leaves as they become tender.
  3. Drain well; cool. Preheat oven to 325u0b0.
  4. Trim main leaf stems.
  5. Fry onion until golden brown.
  6. In a large bowl, combine onion, beef, pork, rice, salt and pepper.
  7. Spread a cabbage leaf flat.
  8. Place 2 to 3 tablespoons filling on leaf near base.
  9. Fold bottom of leaf over filling, then sides toward center.
  10. Roll tightly.
  11. Fasten with toothpicks.
  12. Repeat with remaining filling and cabbage leaves. Place golabki in buttered frypan, seam side down.
  13. Cook over medium heat until browned, 8 to 10 minutes, turning once.
  14. Arrange golobki, seam side down, in medium roasting pan.
  15. Combine flour and bouillon in closed container.
  16. Shake well.
  17. Mix with tomato paste.
  18. Pour over golabki.
  19. Cover and bake 40 minutes until tender.
  20. Serves 10 to 12.
