Split Pea Soup

  1. Combine peas, carrotts, onion, parsnip, celery, thyme, salt, pepper, broth and the water.
  2. Add Ham Hocks, submerging them in mixture.
  3. Cover, cook on low heat setting for 2 hours until peas are very soft.
  4. Remove ham hocks; skim fat from surface of soup.
  5. Trim fat from hocks.
  6. Cut meat from bones and shread; stir into soup.
  7. Ladle into 6 bowls.
  8. Garnish each serving with garlic croutons and chopped parsley.
