German Pecan Brittles

  1. Cream
  2. shortening
  3. in a large mixing bowl; gradually add sugar, beating well.
  4. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each
  5. addition.
  6. Sift
  7. together
  8. flour, baking powder, soda and salt in
  9. a
  10. medium mixing bowl; add cereal and pecans, stirring to coat
  11. well.
  12. Stir
  13. flour
  14. mixture
  15. and
  16. vanilla into creamed mixture,
  17. mixing
  18. well.
  19. Drop
  20. dough
  21. by
  22. teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto greased and floured cookie sheets.
  23. Bake at 325u0b0 for 10 to 12 minutes and cool on wire racks.
  24. Yields 11 dozen.
