Broccoli With Caramelized Onion Pizza Recipe
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 3/4 c. hot water
- 1/4 ounce active dry yeast (1 package)
- 2 tsp extra virgin olive oil
- 2 c. bread flour to 2 1/4 c.
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 c. Spanish onions thinly sliced
- 2/3 c. vegetable broth
- 4 c. broccoli florets bite-sized pcs with 1/4 inch stems included
- 1 1/2 tsp cornmeal for dusting board
- 1 Tbsp. extra virgin extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. fresh sage chopped or possibly 1 1/2 tsp crumbled dry sage
- 1/3 c. grated parmesan cheese
- For the dough: Makes a 14 inch round pizza.
- Let rest for 12 min after punching down, before shaping.
- Cook for 20-25 min in preheated 450F oven.
- Cook onions in broth over medium heat, till onions start to turn a deep golden brown color and no liquid is left in bottom of pan, about 7-8 min.
- Cook broccoli till barely tender.
- (Steamed for about 4 min.)
- Distribute onions over pizza dough.
- Add in broccoli florets.
- Drizzle oil over top.
- Sprinkle on salt, red pepper, sage, and cheese.
- Bake till golden, about 20-25 min.
