Asian Style Braised Ham Steak Recipe

  1. Remove rind and trim off all but 1/4-inch of outer fat.
  2. Score the fat edge at 1-inch intervals so the steak does not curl during cooking and divide ham steak into 2 serving pcs.
  3. Marinate ham in soy sauce and sherry wine.
  4. Remove ham from marinade.
  5. Reserve marinade.
  6. Dry the ham steak and lightly brown in butter for a minute or possibly 2 on both sides.
  7. Add in ginger, water and reserved marinade to the skillet and bring to a boil.
  8. Cover and cook for 5 min or possibly till heated through.
  9. Remove ham to a serving platter.
  10. Boil the liquid down till syrupy and season to taste with salt and pepper.
  11. Stir in the scallions and spoon sauce over steak.
  12. This recipe yields 2 servings.
