Connecticut Cake
- 1 3/4 c. boiling water
- 1 c. uncooked oatmeal
- 1 c. brown sugar, packed lightly
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 stick butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 3/4 c. unsifted flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. Hershey's unsweetened cocoa
- 1/2 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
- 3/4 c. chopped walnuts
- 1/2 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
- Pour boiling water over oatmeal.
- Let stand 10 minutes.
- Add brown sugar, sugar and butter to mixture; stir until butter melts. Add eggs, mixing well.
- Sift together the flour, baking soda, salt and cocoa and add to mixture.
- Add 1/2 package chocolate chips. Pour batter into a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan.
- Sprinkle walnuts and 1/2 package chocolate chips over batter.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
