Chocolate Jumbles
- 1 cup cocoa powder
- 1 cup water hot
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 1 cup molasses
- 1 cup vegetable shortening
- 2 each egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon baking soda heaping
- 1 x flour, all-purpose to make soft dough
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon cloves
- 1 teaspoon allspice
- Add hot water to cocoa and soda.
- Let stand while preparing other ingredients.
- Cream shortening, adding sugar gradually.
- Add beaten egg yolks, molasses and cocoa mixture.
- Sift spices with flour and add.
- Roll soft as possible.
- Cut with cooky cutter.
- Bake in hot oven.
- Egg whites may be used to make icing for cookies.
- Note: Hot oven is 350 - 400F (200C).
