Zimtsterne(Cinnamon Stars)
- 7 egg whites, at room temperature (use large eggs)
- 1 lb. plus 3 Tbsp. powdered sugar
- 1 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1 lb. plus 3 Tbsp. ground pecans
- 1 tsp. white vanilla
- 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- Whip egg whites with electric beater, starting at low speed. Add cream of tartar and sugar.
- Beat until peaks (soft) are formed. Beat 15 minutes at medium speed.
- Put one cup mixture aside; this will be used for glaze.
- Fold in ground pecans with a wooden spoon. Heat oven to 275u0b0.
- Bake on cookie sheet lined with wax paper. Drop by teaspoon on paper.
- Use reserved egg whites as a glaze. Garnish with a 1/2 pecan or Hug candy or can be left plain.
- Bake 20 minutes.
- Glaze should be light brown, but soft.
- Slide paper on a table which has been moistened with water.
- Lift cookies gently with spatula.
