  3. In another bowl, beat together the butter and both the sugars until the mixture is light in texture.
  4. Beat in the whole egg and egg yolk.
  5. Add the maple syrup and the vanilla.
  6. Gradually add the flour mixture, beating just until smooth.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts.
  8. Cover and refrigerate until cold, 2-6 hours.
