Bread And Butter Pickles

  1. Use
  2. fresh green cucumbers.
  3. Wash.
  4. Remove stem end and slice 1/4-inch
  5. thick.
  6. Put into an enamelware or glass bowl. Sprinkle with
  7. salttnd
  8. add
  9. water.
  10. Cover and let stand 24 hours.
  11. Turn into
  12. a colander and drain well.
  13. Put into large enamelware
  14. pot; add
  15. onions
  16. (sliced
  17. 1/8-inch
  18. thick), then vinegar,
  19. sugar
  20. and spices.
  21. Stir to mix well.teat to boiling, then simmer 3 to 4 minutes.
