Surprise Meatballs
- 1 egg (slightly Beaten)
- 1 lb ground chuck
- 14 cup minced onion
- 14 cup breadcrumbs
- 18 teaspoon pepper
- 1 (10 ounce) jar maraschino cherries, well drained and cut in half
- 1 cup catsup
- 1 cup grape jelly
- Combine meat, beaten egg, bread crumbs and pepper.
- Make into 1 to 1-1/4 inch meatballs, pressing 1/2 of a cherry into each meatball.
- Brown meatballs.
- For Sauce: Stir catsup into grape jelly in a medium saucepan.
- Heat and stir till melted.
- Add browned meatballs.
- Cook on very low heat for about 1 hour.
- Serve hot or cold.
