Strawberry Trifle

  1. Split cake into 3 layers.
  2. Spread jam between layers and reassemble layers.
  3. Cut into 2-inch cubes.
  4. Arrange cubes in 2-quart serving bowl.
  5. Sprinkle with orange juice.
  6. Wash strawberries.
  7. Save 8 to 12 for garnish.
  8. Slice remaining and spoon over cake.
  9. Pour chilled Custard Sauce over berries. Refrigerate covered for 1 hour.
  10. Whip cream to soft peak stage. Add sugar and vanilla.
  11. Whip until stiff.
  12. Spread whipped cream over custard.
  13. Garnish with whole strawberries.
  14. Chill.
