Orange Gumdrop Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 275u0b0.
  2. Cream butter and 2 cups sugar.
  3. Add egg yolks and beat well.
  4. Finely chop dates, gumdrops and pecans and dust them with a little flour.
  5. Add to creamed mixture along with coconut and orange rind.
  6. Dissolve soda in the buttermilk and add with the rest of flour to batter, fruit and nut mixture.
  7. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
  8. Bake in large greased and floured tube pan for 2 hours.
