Meatballs with Italian Style Tomato Sauce
- 2 can of peeled tomatoes, chopped
- 2 carrots, finely chopped
- 1 head onion, finely chopped
- 5 clove garlic, cut in halfs
- 1/2 tsp basil
- 1/2 tsp oregano
- 2 bay leaf
- 10 black pepper grains
- 1/4 tsp spearmint
- 1 pinch sugar
- 400 grams ground beef
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 head onion
- 5 tbsp bread crumbs
- Mix the ingredients for the meatballs and prepare them medium sized.
- Fry them in vegetable oil.
- Fry the carrots, onions and garlic for a little bit.
- Be careful not to burn the garlic!
- Add the tomatoes.
- 10 minutes later add the spices without the sugar.
- When it thickens, drop the meatballs in the tomatoes and let them boil for about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the sugar.
- Try the sauce, if it is too sour, add some more sugar.
- Remove from the heat.
