Plum Cake

  1. Combine flour, baking powder, salt and 3/4 cup sugar in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Add shortening, milk and eggs.
  3. Beat at medium speed for
  4. 4 minutes.
  5. Grease bottom and sides of an 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
  6. Coat with bread crumbs.
  7. Turn batter into prepared pan.
  8. Place plums on top, pushing one edge of each half down 1/4-inch into batter.
  9. Dot with butter.
  10. Combine remaining 1/4 cup sugar and cloves; mix well.
  11. Sprinkle over plums.
  12. Bake at 350u0b0 about 40 minutes.
