- 50 ml Red wine (white or sake would be okay)
- 50 ml Mirin
- 2 tbsp Fruit juice (apple, orange, etc.)
- 30 ml Vinegar
- 100 ml Soy sauce
- It's really easy to make it taste like the kind they serve at restaurants!
- Finely mince the onion.
- You could chop it up roughly, or alternatively, you could use a food processor.
- Grate the garlic.
- Put the red wine and the mirin in the pan...
- And let it come to a boil once.
- Put in the onion and the garlic.
- Let it come to a boil again as you mix.
- Add the apple juice (any fruit juice would do; if you don't have any, you can use a teaspoon of sugar).
- Add soy sauce and vinegar.
- When it comes to a boil again, turn the heat down to low and reduce.
- It should be done when the sauce has reduced by about half.
- You should check for the taste.
- The sauce is best served at room temperature or a bit warmer.
- Wouldn't you want to make steaks like this?.
