Grandma'S Crumb Cake
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1 c. white sugar
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1 c. shortening or lard
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp. cloves
- 1 c. sour milk
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 c. chocolate chips
- 1/2 c. white sugar
- Mix flour, shortening, brown sugar and 1 cup white sugar thoroughly.
- Remove 1 cup and reserve for crumb topping.
- To the rest, add eggs and spices.
- Stir soda into sour milk and add to cake mixture.
- Beat until well mixed.
- Grease and flour a 9 x 13-inch pan.
- Pour cake batter into pan.
- Crumble topping over. Sprinkle chocolate chips over topping.
- Sprinkle 1/2 cup sugar over.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 20 to 25 minutes.
