Hero Sandwiches Recipe
- 4 hero rolls (8-9" long)
- 1/4 c. mayonnaise or possibly cooked salad dressing
- 1/2 c. mustard, pickle relish
- Crisp lettuce leaves
- 1/2 pound thinly sliced boiled ham
- 1/2 pound thinly sliced bologna (2-3" diameter)
- 1/2 pound thinly sliced salami (2" diameter)
- 1/4 pound sharp American cheese, thinly sliced
- 2 med. tomatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 med. onions, thinly sliced
- Dill pickles
- Split rolls, being careful not to cut all the way through.
- Spread half of each with mayonnaise, about 1 1/2 Tbsp..
- Spread other half with relish, 2 Tbsp.. Cover both halves with lettuce.
- Arrange, in order, on bottom halves: Ham, bologna, salami, cheese, tomato and onion.
- Close sandwiches and fasten near each end with wooden picks.
- Cut in half crosswise.
- Serve with dill pickles.
- Makes 4 sandwiches.
