Apple Cream Pie - Dutch Style

  1. Prepare apples while bringing 3/4 cup sugar and water to boil in a wide saucepan.
  2. Add apples, cover and cook gently until syrup has almost cooked away and has become thick.
  3. Arrange in pastry shell.
  4. Combine cream, sugar, cornstarch and salt; stir until smooth.
  5. Pour over apples.
  6. Sprinkle with cinnamon and dot with a tablespoon or two of butter.
  7. Bake at 425F about 35 minutes or until crust is brown and filling thickened.
