California Gold Bars Recipe

  1. Beat together sugar, butter, egg and vanilla till smooth and creamy.
  2. Stir in flour and nuts.
  3. Spoon half the batter in a greased 9-inch square pan; spread proportionately.
  4. Spread batter proportionately with jam.
  5. Cover jam with remaining batter.
  6. Bake in 325 degree oven 50 min.
  7. Cold 10 min.
  8. Cut into 32 bars (1 x 2 inches).
