Millet Burgers
- 1 cup millet
- 3 cups water
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 grated carrot
- 1 onion, minced or cut small
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 14 cup wholemeal breadcrumbs, or a slice of bread shredded into pieces
- 3 tablespoons roasted sesame seeds
- 14 teaspoon thyme or 14 teaspoon marjoram
- 12 teaspoon sage
- 14 cup fresh minced parsley
- Use 1 cup of millet for 3 cups of water, add a pinch of salt and cook for about 25-30 minutes.
- The millet can be roasted before cooking to add a nutty taste to the grain.
- Saute the onion and garlic first, then add the carrot.
- Simmer for about 5 minutes then mix in a large bowl along with the other ingredients.
- The mixture can be made into patties and fried until golden or they can be baked at 375 F (200 C) for 40 minutes.
- Alternatively: the mixture can become a Millet loaf by putting the mixture in a baking dish in the oven.
