Meringue for Pies

  1. Beat egg whites and cream of Tartar until peaks form.
  2. Gradually add 1/2 cup sugar and continue to beat until peaks are stiff & glossy but not dry.
  3. Beat in 1/2 teaspoon vanilla.
  4. Top your filled pie anchoring the meringue to the edges of pie crust all the way around.
  5. Bake in 375F oven for 20 minutes or until top of meringue browns good.
  6. Let pie cool completely @ room temperature before refrigerating.
