American Apple Crumb Pie
- 34 cup sugar
- 14 cup flour
- 12 teaspoon nutmeg
- 12 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 dash salt
- 6 cups peeled and thinly sliced tart apples
- 9 inches pie crusts, unbaked
- 2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine
- 1 cup flour
- 12 cup butter or 12 cup margarine
- 12 cup brown sugar
- Preheat oven to 425.
- In a large bowl, mix sugar flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt.
- Stir in apples.
- Spoon into an unbaked pie shell.
- Dot with butter.
- Set aside.
- For topping, mix flour, butter, and brown sugar until crumbly.
- Sprinkle on top of apples.
- Bake for 50 minutes.
- Cover topping with aluminum foil during the last 10 minutes of baking.
