Rosie'S Lasagna
- 1 lb. hamburger or Italian sausage
- 1/2 c. chopped onion
- 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. oregano
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1 (6 oz.) tomato paste
- 1 (8 oz.) tomato sauce
- 3/4 c. water
- 1 c. cottage cheese
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 12 oz. Mozzarella cheese, sliced
- 1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 lb. lasagna noodles
- Brown meat and onion; drain.
- Add seasonings, tomato paste, tomato sauce and water.
- Mix well.
- Bring to a boil.
- Turn heat to low; cover and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
- Cook lasagna noodles in salted water for 10 to 13 minutes, or until tender.
- Drain; pour cold water over them until they are cool enough to handle.
- Combine cottage cheese and egg.
- Place 1/2 of noodles in a 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
- Spread 1/2 of meat sauce over noodles, then 1/2 of the cottage cheese mixture, then 1/2 of the Mozzarella cheese slices and sprinkle with 1/2 of Parmesan cheese.
- Repeat layers.
- Bake at 375u0b0 for 45 minutes.
- Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
