Italian Sausage with Cheese Tortellini in a Garlic Lemon Cream Sauce
- 1 pound Ground Italian Sweet Or Hot Sausage
- 1 package (12 Oz. Size) Barilla Three Cheese Tortellini
- 3 Tablespoons Butter
- 2 Tablespoons Flour
- 1- 1/2 cup Heavy Cream
- 4 cloves Garlic, Minced
- 1 whole Lemon, 1/2 Zest And All The Juice
- 1 pint Cherry Or Grape Tomatoes, Cut In Half
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Fresh Ground Pepper
- 1 Tablespoon Parsley, Chopped
- Heat a nonstick skillet on medium high heat.
- Brown sausage and drain fat.
- Set aside.
- Boil water and cook tortellini per directions on bag.
- In the same skillet used to cook sausage, melt butter and add flour.
- Whisk together and let cook for 2 minutes.
- Add heavy cream and continue whisking for a few more minutes.
- Add garlic, lemon zest and juice, grape tomatoes, sausage, a sprinkle of salt and fresh ground pepper; let simmer.
- Once tortellini are cooked and drained, add into sauce and stir to combine.
- Sprinkle with parsley when serving.
