Grandma Jackie'S Cheese Rolls
- 2 doz. small French or sourdough rolls
- 1 lb. Cheddar cheese, grated
- 1 lb. Jack cheese, grated
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 cans sliced olives, drained
- 1 can Ortega green chilies, chopped
- 1 raw egg
- 1 clove garlic, mashed
- Cut rolls in half lengthwise and remove most of the soft center bread from both top and bottom halves.
- (Dry these crumbs and use in other cooking.)
- Mix all other ingredients in a large bowl.
- Fill centers of rolls with cheese mixture, replacing tops on bottoms.
- Place roll in a wax paper sandwich bag and twist top of bag closed or wrap roll in waxed paper, twisting ends tightly to seal.
- Do not use plastic bags or wrap.
- Place as many as desired in a brown paper bag and heat in a 350u0b0 oven for about 20 minutes.
- Store unused rolls in refrigerator or freezer.
- When wanted, just place in a brown bag for oven.
- No defrosting required.
- Do not heat in microwave; it makes them soft instead of crunchy.
