Asparagus Casserole
- 2 Tbsp. bacon drippings
- 4 Tbsp. flour
- 1 c. milk
- 1 (No. 2) can green asparagus, drained
- 1/8 tsp. red pepper
- 2 Tbsp. finely chopped onions
- 1 c. toasted slivered almonds
- 1 Tbsp. parsley flakes
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- salt and pepper
- 2 c. grated Cheddar cheese
- Make a thick white sauce by melting fat.
- Add flour and combine thoroughly.
- Add milk, salt and pepper to taste; cook on low heat until thick.
- Combine white sauce, 1 cup grated cheese, almonds, Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon salt, black pepper and red pepper.
- Place asparagus in buttered baking dish and pour the sauce mixture over it.
- Top with remaining cup of grated cheese. Bake at 350u0b0 for 45 minutes.
